Party with us!

My journal entry for Saturday March 22nd reads...Ebola, seriously, Ebola? You have got to be kidding me, right? I know I am a control freak and often try to manipulate situations. I realize that God is working on me in this very area of my life, especially through this process of going to Guinea. But Ebola?
Please continue to be in prayer for our group. We are moving forward, God has NOT closed any doors! Marc, Rachel and I have all of our Visas and our passports back! Mathisens have just sent off their Liberian Visa applications with their passports, so be in constant prayer that all of those papers come back in a timely manner!
And as we move forward to this much anticipated trip, I want to remind you, we are ready to party with you THIS Saturday at The Riverenza! We have several stories to share, videos to show, good food to enjoy! We want to involve you, our friends and family, in one more step of our journey!!!

Exciting news!

There have been so many great things that have happened for our team. I can't believe as of today we only have 46 days until we leave! Our plane tickets have been purchased, Jeff was budgeting $2400/ticket but Megan, our contact from MTI, emailed an itinerary to us with the purchase price only being $1500/ticket! AMAZING! This email came at a moment when I was needing to remember just Who is orchestrating the trip, huge reminder!! To always try to live my life showing no concern for the uncertainties that lie ahead is what I long for!
Jackie from Good News Clinic braved the gorge on a snowy/icy Sunday to make our team meeting to give is all our shots! So next in the process is applying for our visas..this is a huge prayer request especially since we each need a visa to Liberia and Guinea!
I hope that you all enjoy the video!!! A HUGE shout out to my husband who worked tirelessly to put the film into production..Steve, you are a true blessing and I love you!!!

Mission to Hope

It is with much anticipation, prayer and pure excitement that we have come to this part of our process in which we get to officially announce our team! Jeff, Jen, Kaden, and Krae Mathisen, Marc McAllister, Rachel and myself! The 7 of us will embark officially to Guinea on April 25th and return Memorial Day weekend! We have already been on such an awesome journey and are so incredibly humbled at all of Gods provisions. Thank you for your support, love and prayer as there is still yet much to accomplish before we leave the states! Believing in all of God's promises and His great love for us, we believe 100% we are walking step by step in His will!
Love,
Rach and Dawn

Trusting...

Some of you have asked where in Africa we are going, what we'll be doing, and how you can help!…Well, I have some of that information for you as little by little our team is figuring out the vast details. We are going to Guinea, West Africa basically from the end of April to the end of May! We will be serving in a place called Hope Clinic (you can look this up at hopeguinea.org). My friend Jeff will be performing surgeries for the entire month we are there. He has gone several times before to serve and now we get to join him! I'll hopefully get to help with some surgeries, as well as in the clinic..oh I can't wait to see how different and new nursing is in a 3rd world country!!! Rachel has many areas of service. She'll get to help in surgery, the office, the kitchen, the clinic if she chooses and also ministering to the people of Guinea who wait so long and work so hard to see a doctor. I can't wait to see how God uses her and how she is ministered to as well :)
God has been specifically been working on the hearts of our team. The information of whom will be going is right around the corner! I can't wait to see how God completely orchestrates all the details out. We will also be sharing with all of our friends and family about how you can be apart of our ministry in Africa... about ways to pray, how to help our families here while we are gone, and how to donate financially if led to do so through a non-profit organization.
I have been amazed at the process and journey we as a family and team have been on thus far! I hope that you'll be blessed as well!

Love,
Dawn and Rachel

The Calling

Have you ever been so still and actually heard Jesus speak a soft sweet whisper into your ear? What an amazing voice He has! Goosebumps! I heard Him speaking to me a few months ago, but through the business of life I wasn't quite sure what He was saying! Finally, He caught my attention via a sermon at church on 'the fish and the loaves'! These are the exact words I heard..."Our little becomes more than enough in the hands of Jesus.".. If Jesus can use 12 men to feed 5 thousand people and have way more leftovers then what they started with..what could He do with me with my hands open, ready and willing to serve? I can't wait to find out!!!

Then what do you say to God when He asks more of you than you can imagine..hopefully say yes to Him! Honestly, I worried and doubted right away! Rachel prayed about going to Africa with me and when she heard Jesus calling her I was extremely excited, but I'm not going to lie..I had NO idea how God was going to get 2 of us to Africa for a month! Then once again Jesus spoke these words to me..."Jesus sometimes calls us to do the impossible!"
Out of my little He has already given so much! What an exciting journey we as individuals and a family are on!
We'll keep you updated with our adventure and hopefully you will be as blessed as we are!
